Deerfield 2-Man Scramble – March 9-10 – 9:00 a.m. shotgun each day. Field limited to first 60 teams. Sign up in the Pro Shop.
The grounds crew is continuing to work diligently to keep the course in the best condition possible. We ask that you help in caring for the course as much as possible by using the 90 degree rule when possible, limiting the number of carts in groups to the minimum required, filling divots with sand, and repairing ball marks. Holes 15 and 17 will be CART PATH ONLY throughout the winter months. This approach was used last year and very positive results were seen regarding grass coverage in the fairways. We all enjoy playing on a course that is in the best shape possible, and we should all take ownership and pride on the course we get to play. Blatant disregard for the basic rules and etiquette concerning the golf course will result in a $25 involuntary contribution to the golf course improvement fund.
We would like to welcome Olly Thomson to the staff here at Deerfield. Many of you know Olly from the neighborhood or through play at Canton Country Club. Olly will be classified as the Head Professional and will be serving in several capacities from membership recruitment to the junior golf program. Olly will be a great fit for us and we look forward to having him with us for many years to come. Olly is the current president of the Mississippi Chapter of the Gulf States PGA and has been awarded Player of the Year honors on several occasions. Billy is not leaving. He will continue to perform same duties as usual but will have the freedom to perform more General Manager duties going forward. We are striving to make Deerfield Golf Club the best it can be for all of you, and this is a great step in doing that.
We are also looking into adding simulators upstairs for club fittings, lessons, and simulated round of golf, so be on the lookout for additional amenities that can be enjoyed by all members.
Thank you all for your continued support of Deerfield Golf Club.
